Why I Started the Muslim Ski Club
Skiing was never something I imagined becoming such an important part of my life. Like many people, I once saw it as an exclusive sport that felt difficult to access and disconnected from my lifestyle.
That changed the first time I stood at the top of a mountain, surrounded by snow-covered peaks and open skies. I experienced a sense of exhilaration and calmness that was unlike anything else.
Yet, as I looked around, I also became aware of how few people from diverse communities were represented on the slopes.
That moment stayed with me, and ultimately inspired the creation of the Muslim Ski Club.
From a Personal Journey to a Global Community
Over the past two years, my own snow sports journey has taken me across 7 different countries and more than 15 ski resorts. Each destination has strengthened my belief that the mountains should be experienced by everyone at least once in their life.
What began as an idea has since developed into an award-winning organisation and a growing global community. Muslim Ski Club has delivered club trips all across the Alps and other destinations such as the Pyrenees and Central Asia.
Last year, over 50 skiers joined us across our trips and over the past two years, we've helped over 200+ people begin their Snowsports journey.
Today, our community brings together 400 global members from different backgrounds and regions, connected by a shared interest in our sport.
Creating a Snow Sports Experience Without Compromise
Muslim Ski Club is about much more than skiing. It is about creating a space where Muslims can experience the mountains with confidence and with a genuine sense of belonging.
Through halal dining options, prayer-friendly itineraries, welcoming social environments and our signature Après-Tea experiences, we offer an alternative to traditional après-ski culture. Our aim is not to remove what makes mountain life exciting, but to create experiences that allow our community to enjoy it while remaining true to their values.
Building a Movement
Since launching the club, I have seen a meaningful shift in the way Muslims view snow sports. More people are now considering skiing and snowboarding as part of their winter holidays, many for the very first time.
For me, this represents something much bigger than the growth of a club. We are helping to create a new market, challenge long-held perceptions and show that snow sports can be accessible, welcoming and relevant to new travellers.
Being recognised as a Gold Winner at the 2026 SME Bedfordshire Business Awards was an important milestone for us and me personally. It reflects the impact already being made by the club, but also the potential of what we are continuing to build.
Looking Ahead
Our ambition is to become the largest global snow sports community out there.
The next chapter is about increasing our impact through more opportunities, visiting even more regions and trying out new resorts, hosting regional social events, and building clearer pathways for members who want to progress within the sport.
In the longer term, we want to support the development of aspiring Muslim athletes and help create greater representation across every level of snow sports.
Most importantly, we want every person who discovers Muslim Ski Club to feel that there is a place for them here, regardless of their experience or starting point.
