Race Club Safeguarding

Welfare & Safeguarding

We adopt SSE safeguarding policies in full. Members are directed to Snowsport England’s safeguarding resources: [here]. Our Welfare Officer holds current safeguarding training and the Time to Listen qualification. All coaches, instructors, and the Welfare Officer hold valid DBS checks. Click the links at the bottom of the page to find out more about our safeguarding.

Why Safeguarding Matters

We believe every person—regardless of age, ability, or background—has the right to participate in snowsport without fear or harm.

Safeguarding is not just about avoiding harm; it’s about creating a culture of trust, accountability, and care.

Through compliance with SSE’s minimum standards, we provide assurance to members, families, partners, and regulatory bodies.

Policies & Procedures

  • We follow SSE’s SnowSafe Children Policy and SnowSafe Adults Policy, plus SSE procedures and toolkits.

  • We maintain best-practice policies for photography & filming, online safety, anti-bullying, and privacy.

  • Our policies are regularly reviewed and updated with guidance from SSE and national best practice.

Club Welfare Officer (CWO)

Our dedicated Club Welfare Officer (CWO) is your first point of contact for any safeguarding concerns.

The CWO holds current training, including recognized safeguarding courses, and is accountable for promoting welfare across all activities.

Reporting Concerns & Emergency Action

We firmly believe you do not have to decide if abuse has occurred - just report your concern.

  • For immediate danger, always call 999 first.

  • For children under risk, we have a legal duty to report, even without consent; for adults at risk, we typically seek consent but may act without when necessary.

All reports go through a process, and our CWO will manage follow-up, escalation, and support.

Our Club Welfare Officer can be contacted if you have any concerns about a child or adult’s welfare, or for any advice about good practice in our club.

Contact details for the CWO : Burhan Ali - burhanali@muslimskiclub.com

We will also inform Snowsport England’s Safeguarding Lead as needed.
